SBS dropped a surprise first teaser for their upcoming Monday-Tuesday medical-mystery drama Doctor Stranger. They also announced the new premiere date, 5 May 2014. It’s a wise move from SBS because the original premiere date put Doctor Stranger to go head-to-head with the final week of rating monster Empress Ki. KBS2 has already postponed Big Man‘s premiere date from 7 to 28 April 2014, it’ll be interesting to see if they’re going to push it back by another week, making Doctor Stranger, Big Man and MBC drama Triangle to start on the same date, 5 May 2014.
Doctor’s Stranger first teaser is very sleek, as expected from PD Jin Hyuk. A heartbeat sound in the background, beautiful scenery as the backdrop and the dramatic motorcycle racing cleverly symbolizes the speed & urgency. Intense portrayal of the doctors’ daily struggles as they face dire situations when they’re racing against time to save their patients.
Doctor Stranger is a drama about a genius surgeon Park Hoon (Lee Jong Suk) who grew up in North Korea after his father and him got kidnapped and brought to North Korea. He’s able to flee to South Korea and works at a prestigious hospital where he meets with Harvard associate professor, Dr Han Jae Joon (Park Hae Jin), a genius chest surgeon.
Because Park Hoon is a foreigner, he’s unable to be listed as an official doctor and lives as a complete stranger in South Korea. He works hard to earn money so he can be reunited with his lover Song Jae Hee (Jin Se Yeon) who he left behind in North Korea.
The daughter of the hospital’s chairman, Oh Soo Hyun (Kang So Ra) will be entangled in a love triangle with these two genius surgeons.
This drama follows God’s Gift – 14 Days, it premieres on 5 May 2014 on SBS.
