Girls’ Generation Yoona has turned down the offer to star in Korean remake of Japanese manga Nodame Cantabile, SM Entertainment announced on 14 July 2014.
Instead of coming back to the small screen this year, she chose to make her movie debut on Korean-Chinese Movie Goodbye Ani (再见阿妮) which won the “most promising project to invest” award at Shanghai’s CFPC (China Film Pitch and Catch) – 2009 Shanghai International Film Festival.
Goodbye Ani is a romantic comedy, directed by PD Kwak Jae Yong (My Sassy Girl, The Classic, etc) and written by scriptwriter Hwang In Ho (Spellbound) about panda zookeeper Ani (Yoona) and animal lovers acupuncturist. It’s reported that Taiwanese actor Eddie Peng is offered the lead role.
This is possibly the best move that SM could make for Yoona’s acting career. It’s a huge risk for her to play as Nodame, the negative feedback were too overwhelming. Hopefully she’ll get to act in a good drama project next year without all these negativity.
